Fix a leaking tank with Epoxy Resin??

Ok.. I know that the BEST way to repair my tank would be to dis-assemble it and re build it re silicon it..

The bottom cracked under the in-tank filter box at one end of the tank.
I fit a new piece of glass over the cracked bottom of the filter box area, siliconed it .. it leaked.

I re siliconed it, it leaked.. I re-sealed all the joints.. it leaked..

So....... I was wondering, Whynot use a two part epoxy resin, mix it up, pour it into the bottom of the filter box so it "flows" into any gaps and then cures?.. thus sealing the bottom of the filter box.

Couple of questions :

1) Has anyone tried / done this and how did it work out?

2) What type epoxy / resin to use that would a) bind to the glass, and b) be non toxic to the fish?

I have requested "Sika" (sealant /epoxy mfg.) for prodct recomendations, but they reffered me to the Agent here in Thailand :swear: who are not at all intrested or most likely even capable of understanding the problem or even what I am asking :headbang2:

So.. any help is appreciated.. The tank is 6 ft by 2.5 ft by 2.5 ft 5/8 in thick all glass so it is heavy tank even empty!

umm.. it should be okay if you let it cure... otherwise you're good to go... it'll be pricey though

I tried it, it worked for awhile then leaked.
The epoxy seemed to peel away from the glass. I had to take it apart and silicon it.
I was using fibreglass epoxy resin, maybe there is an epoxy that binds better to glass?
