I had this 10 gallon heavily planted tank with a gourami plus my army of shrimp. I wanted to let the plants really take off so i tried a DIY co2 thingy and it didn't work as well as i had hoped so I decided to buy the jungle labs fizz factory co2 kit. the main diffusion part is this bell that goes under the water and collects the CO2 from the fizz tabs. (ok kinda weird to explaine but basically the same as any DIY co2 kit.) anyways I followed the directions to the par and one day when the bell filled up with CO2 my fish freake out and went into the bell then sofficated! i couldnt get him to a diffrent tank fast enough and he died. besides the fact of this being horrifing, I'm pissed the box didnt say this thing was not safe for labrynth fish :mad2:!!!
I still have it and was wondering if I would get the same fish killing results if I put it in my 30 gallon tank? really want those plants to grow but I dont want to hurt my fish. Im thinking if i put a screen on the bell the fish wont get in, but will a 30 gallon still be a consentrated amount of CO2?
wheew, sorry long post!

A single 2L yeast reactor will not make much of a dent in a 30g. I'd either add a screen to keep anabantids out of the CO2 or place the bell low enough in the tank that they can't get in there. The only issue w/ the 2d approach is that placing the bell lower increases the hydrostatic pressure the CO2 must overcome in order to get into the bell (not too large a concern, but start-ups would be a little slower).

thanks! so lowering the bell and screening it off should be ok? this thing is rated for up to 40 gallon tanks, well see how well it does!
