FL fish farm WHAT IM GOIN TO DO TO HELP THEM

Are you a member of an aquarium club? Maybe you should Google your city and state and aquarium clubs to see if there is one near you, if you are not yet a member of one. Start by looking here:

There's strength in numbers...if you were to state your intent to a club and ask for their support, they may be open minded about helping you set up a fund or give you some tips on canvassing. You seem like a young person, and I know aquarium clubs are (often times) trying to attract younger members.

I agree that with the economy and the Haiti situation, people in Wisconsin are not likely to care about fish farms in Florida, any more than they would care about citrus farmers in Florida or peach growers in Georgia. That's why seeking the help of an aquarium club is going to be your best bet.

As far as prices being driven way up, I'm not so sure about that. There are bad crop years for various vegetables all the time and it usually makes little difference. Surely the chain pet stores will just look for other suppliers if prices of Florida farmed fish suddenly begin skyrocketing - it's all a matter of doing business.

One last thing. Contact this organization and let them know of your plans:
Florida Tropical Fish Farms Association

Great advice, Platy!

LBF- how do you think you are going to be received if you just show up at the mayOR's office without an appointment? You obviously care a lot about this situation and want to do something, just like you did about the person with the goldfish and numerous other situations. It's clear that you want to do the right thing. The thing these threads have in common is a need to THINK THINGS THROUGH COMPLETELY before acting, so that your requests will be taken seriously. Think about writing down what you are proposing and then spell checking it before you send to the aquarium club or take off to talk to a government official. I think that your message will definitely get more responses that way than a "ready, fire, aim" way of dealing with it.

well i already emails urban tropicals just waiting for an email back from them.. talked to the city hall they dont think i need the citys approval but there gunna takl to the mayer still and email me back.. but im gunna wait for urban tropicals to email me back before i go on now... there is a group by me but the closest is like 2 hours away though..

I admire your drive to help. However, one piece of advice if you are going to be using email for communicating in a situation like this (or any situation where you want to be taken seriously) - one thing that will earn your dismissal faster than anything is your lack of professionalism in your communication. This is expanding on what Somervell said. If the text in your emails looks anything like it does in your posts here, I would be amazed if you got any response at all. It sounds trivial, but when it comes to trying to get money out of people, you need to look, act and sound professional enough that people will be willing to trust you with their hard earned money. Misspelling words and neglecting to use punctuation will not leave people with that impression.
