Anyone else think the flame angel is purty? I want to get one for my 120 gal tank but out of pure worry fulness I am afraid to get one..

Right now I have
2 percs
1blue devel damsal
1 yellow tail damsal
Yellow watchman goby
and a molly, Funny I know.

4 snails, 10 hermits, 1 scarlet hermit,
1 Chocolate Starfish

I am running a XP3 canister and a maxi 1200 powerhead my water has been stable for about 4 months now.

Do you think i am ready for this guy! I I want to put pictures up but my camera sucks. i have about 40 lr and 5lbs semi live and 25lbs base.

what are your water parameters such as nitRATES, nitRITES, ammonia, PH etc. etc. with these things know it would be easier for us to help you.

Flames are gorgeous!

I love them, had one for all of two weeks then it died, but then again I never go to that LFS anymore because I never had luck with their fish. I have been dieing to get one again.

I would say they are moderately hardy fish, definitely make sure you feed plenty of algae based food like Formula one, Spirulina, something like that, not only do they love it, but it helps keep their color bright. They will nip at algae on your rocks and on the glass and swim in and out of the rocks all day. Not sure if your damsels will harass it or not, they might, size rule doesn't apply to those nasty buggers.

Any reason why you still have Damsels in your tank? Flames are relatively peaceful accept of course when housing with other dwarf angels, that is a no no unless put in at the same time.

I researched these guys when going through my original stocking list. As long as your params are all good you shouldn't have any problems. The only downside will be how aggresive your damsels are. My humbug is a complete jerk at first during what I call the 'initiation' phase then gets along fine. I am assuming your damsels were your cycle fish. Can you give us a little history on their behavior? If they were your first fish how did they react when the clowns and goby were added?

Well i only have one power head causethatpetplace.com sells out of koralis all the time.
and i didnt want to buy two of the cheap ones. but i know i need another.
I could get rid of the damsels but Since that fish place is also my LFS they wont give me any kindof credit for them. so its lame. I figure such a large tank i really shouldnt have a problem..

it isn't you having the problem I'm worried about,...it's anything that meets up with a grumpy damsel I was thinking about. Pretty much imagine the flame as your little boxer and the damsel as you with the makeup.

Grins can you get in chat i need to ask some questions about my ph?

I have two humbug damsels. When I added my new hawkfish I rearranged the rocks in my tank to disrupt any set territories. The damsels were to busy remaking claims that they did not bother my hawkfish too badly. It might work for you I don't know. Just a suggestion.

My humbug is a jerk for the first day or so then gets over himself. I never thought about rearranging rock. Seems drastic to do everytime you add something. Sounds like it worked though.
