Flashing, after dips?

I just got a hippo tang from a fish store I hadn't been to before. He suggested I give him (all my new fish) a 3 minute fresh water dip and a disease dip that is sodium chloride and merbromin, for one minute. I did this, and noticed today he is now flashing, and letting my cleaner shrimp clean him a lot. Seems as if it was ich the trophonts, would be gone... He is looking otherwise pretty active, but skinny and a little pale. Also last night had a temp drop, (my fault I think I bumped the thermostat putting live rock in). MAN, I am going to be a stressed out mess by the time everyone is in this tank. Everyone seems OK including him, but could this be why he is flashing, or the dips? Please forgive newbie mistakes.

I made a decision to trade for him yesterday based on something this guy told me, and in spite of what I have learned on here, and my own intuition. This fish store is not someplace I will be visiting again.

So how can I help him? Quarentine tank was spiking, and based on what this guy said to do I ended up putting him in the show tank after the dips and acclimation. He actually seems more outgoing and active than the yellow I added last week.
Thanks ahead for the input and not blasting me about not quarentining him, (already dinging myself enough).
