fleas???

You actually want your pH a bit higher. What are the actual numbers on your other tests?

What are you feeding? How long are the lights on? Can you turn off the powerheads and do Max's (a mod here) trick of dropping in a bit of milk and then turn them back on to see if the flow is good and chaotic or if there are any dead spots?

the other tests are next to 0 in number...

amonia: 0
nitrate: 0
nitrites: .1
PH: 8
salinity: 1.022

as for flow and dead spots... there's enough sediment and material floating around in the tank that I can see that there doesn't appear to be any "dead" areas... there is always movement in the tank...

I just wish my digital cam wasn't a big piece of trash so you'd be able to see it clearly.... lol

here's teh funny thing... the following pictures were taken with my camera PHONE.... lol

my phone takes better pics than my camera does.... lol

I'd shoot for 8.4 with the pH and 1.024-1.026 with the specific gravity. However I don't believe either of those are the problem here.

It appears that you have a mix of algae growing in your tank and yes the soft red is most likely cyanobacteria (often called an algae although it isn't one).

Cyanobacteria is typically caused by lighting (old bulbs out of spectrum), nutrients (such as phosphates), poor flow (dead spots especially). I'd start looking at those possible factors first.

I usually test every sunday afternoon....

as for the cyanobacteria... how do I get rid of it??

the lights are new (came with tank)

flow looks good

I've seen it appear and dissappear in the tank... this is the second time its come back...

could it be the light cycle in the tank?

I aim for about 10 hours of light a day... but its hard to do with full time job..

have a timer somewhere... but can't find it for the life of me! lol

raise your salinity, im afraid your shrimp will not live long at that level. also did you mix up your nitrite and nitrate readings? you should be reading 0 nitrites now and slight nitrate are ok... i would not be stressing about the cyano right now your tank is still so new... just scrape... and test phosphate level.
if you want you can go 3 days with the lights out, it should clear up the other algae's (but not the coraline).

the salinity WAS at 1.023 and rising over the last couple weeks....

as for the water... it started off as tap water.. but has been cycled out for premixed R.O. water.

as for what is being fed to the tank the only thing I'm adding is: Big Al's biosupport
its a multipurpose biosupport. has 300 million bacteria per teaspoon (I can read labels!) LOL

but I add one teaspoon per week.

and not a CLUE on gph...
