I have noticed that my Yoyo Loach is 'flicking' himself on the gravel and objects in his tank. It this the sign of a parasite? Thought it may be Gill flukes? I have had a good look at him and there is nothing visible. Also, if it is a parasite, anyone know of a decent medication here in the UK?

by flicking do you mean rubbing? like it would just turn on it's side and rub on something. If so, it has ICH. this can be cured by increasing the temp to 86 F, which I have done on a few occasions, or you can get a medication. I found Quick Cure works pretty well. There's a lot of different treatments you can do. The visible signs will be little white specks on the fins and body. A good site to start at is here http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Ich.html

Flicking or flashing is from irritation. It can be from poor water quality or parasites or even as a sign of aggression. What is your tank's nitrate etc level? It he your only yoyo? Tank size? Yoyos need friends & room to move, maybe a minimum of 3 others in a 55 gal.

Do you use ferts in your tank? Any chemical additives? Sometimes chemicals (other than the recommended amount of water conditioner) can be quite an irritant.

I've noticed that my fish rub up against stuff from time to time. Not ALL the time but they'll be swimming around and then rub up against a plant as they go by it or a rock. Every fish I have I've seen do it (in 3 different tanks). I've never had a case of ICH or any other disease to my knowledge.
Is rubbing up against something ALWAYS an ich indicator? I'm getting a bit confused about this. As I said, my fish do it but not all the time and not like they're irritated or anything.

:iagree: with msjinkzd and fishorama! More than likely something is irritating him, nitrates or a fert or something.
