I recently purchased some plants and now I have these floating leaves about 1/4" across in size. They seem to be multiplying quite readily and have some kind of small root structure coming down from them searching for something to grab onto. I didn't purchase these. Was wondering what they could be and should I consider getting rid of them. Thanks. Can take a picture if would help.

I would also say duckweed. I have it in some tanks. Just make sure it doesn't cover the whole top of your tank. I like to scoop most out during water changes and it will then grow back. If it is growing really fast then you probably have far too much food for it (ie nitrates) and should be doing more water changes.

Thanks. Right now it is in a plastic tub with other plants, waiting for me to finish my 55 gallon setup, hopefully this weekend. No fish until this week. I threw in 2 Ottos and a Tiger barb. Algae had/has been growing like crazy. Was wondering how it would have gotten in there.

Another possibility would be salvinia natans. The leaves are bigger and more "cushy" than smooth and they have more extensive roots than duckweed. Although these grow in 2's across from each other. You said "clover" (3's) which is probably duckweed.
