Hello, I haven't been around for a while, mostly because my tanks are in fairly
good shape.
Anywho I was at the LFS the other day browsing around, and I saw some floating water lettuce, I thought this would be a cool thing to get for my 5 gallon, as I already have some fake floating water lettuce in there for my newt to crawl out onto, Is the real stuff hard to care for? Is it worth getting some? I know it would hold the wieght of my newt because I pushed on it with my finger.
#2 I was thinking, when I need to change my filter sponge, how is one to go about it? Should I cut the old sponge in half and do the same with the new one and put both pieces in this way, so I always have the bacteria in there?
If I were to do this with a new tank, would the cycling go faster? It's just a theory I had that seemed cool and wasn't sure if it had or can be done.
#3 I'm looking to get two or three snails for my 15 gallon tank, is there any species that's perticularly good at eating brown algea? I seem to be having a problem with that, any other solutions to the brown algea would be pretty sweet, as I hate snails
but I think they are my only chance. I took out all my stuff, rinsed off the algea, let it sit for 2 or 3 minutes in javexy water, and rinsed it off countlless times until I couldn't smell the Javex anymore. I was hoping for a snail that stayed fairly small, and isn't to big and gross, snails are the only animal I have a problem with, feed me worms, but I'll never touch a snail :thud:
And now the conclusion of my Essay. Thanks for reading through my rambles, any help would be appreciated ^_____^
