Has anyone dealt with this? I purchased a bunch of floating plants today and most of them are having an issue getting caught in the trap of getting caught in the spill of the water float away only to be drawn back in. Many of them are getting hung uo under water on other plants. Has anyone remedied an issue with an idea? I'm thinking I could create a plastic arc of some type surrounding the spillover that keeps the plants from getting caught in this continuous trap. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I do not have any floating plants now, but when I did, I made a hoop of plastic tubing and tied the hoop towards the front of the tank. Kept the plants from going towards the filter.

I gave up on floating plants with HOB filters a long time ago. They don't play well together. They do well in slow flow setups like canister filters with the output below the surface, and in tanks with sponge filters.

Yep, I too have been through this. The easiest way around it is so not use hang-on-back style filters. Sponge bubbler filters, canister filters with spray bars or other internal filters are easier to adjust the surface movement.

When I plant a new tank I do it with fiLiters on. It helps you design your space instead of fighting it. For instance, maybe it makes more sense to plant that BIG plant on the far side of the supply line. That way the other plants will have better flow in the same tank HTH
