What floating plants which provide shelter for fish, also look good? I have some ? Salvinium? at the moment, which are lovely plants exept for the underneath which is all you can see!!

I'm a big fan of tiger lotuses. it's a bulb plant rather than a floater but it sends up leaves to float on the surface and provides pretty good cover.

Come to think of it, why don't I have any tiger lotuses in my tank. I pulled out mine a good long while ago when my tank was severely overgrown and my bichir was having trouble getting around because of the plants blocking his way.

anyway. it's a good plant I got my bulbs at wal mart. they grow pretty fast.

Indian fern is a good one. Have some in all my tanks. I use some in the substrate and some as floaters. It's pretty cool watching the cories swim through it.

Thanks all. Malken...I have some Tiger Lotus in another tank and am waiting for it to send out some longer stems.

I'd be a bit worried about putting the duckweed type of plant in..doesn't it go mad and take over?
