floating plants

i just want to know how to corral floating plants to a specific part of the tank. i have two light strips on my 10g and all my underwater plants are in the back, so i want to keep the floaters in the front where they will get plenty of their own light, but not block the light from getting to the other plants.

I'd like to know that too, lol. As far as I know they do what they want. Anyone know any magic tricks?

i use fishing line pinned under the doors of the hood. keeps them in place but also lets them move a little w/ the current.

You can also create a "corral" but cutting a length of very small bore aquarium-safe tubing, siliconing the ends to suction cups (leaving air in the tubing so it will float) and using the cups to fasten the ends to the inside of the tank. Works well for individual floating plants and stems like hornwort.
If you have a huge amount of surface agitation you might occasionally have to haul stuff back in, however.

I've done the same as Wishful, but I used thicker tubing. It works but after a water change, for me it was always a pain to herd the plants back inside the corral.

i've done the fishing line. its less noticeable than airline

My concern with fishing line is if you have corys in the tank. The way they zip up for air, it would worry me that they'd zip right into the fishing line.

i have some air hose lying around, so i think i will scilicone the ends to some little suction cups and use that.
