I have two platys that NEVER leave the surface. Two others swim and act normally. When one tries to descend it tries and tries, then floats rapidy back to the surface. The others descend and explore and rest on the bottom with ease. Any thoughts?

Could be a swim bladder problem. Adding some salt would help but without really seeing how they look and float back to the surface it could be hard to tell.

i agree, sounds like possibly swimbladder issue. would you be able to take a video and post it on here for us to be better able to help you?

I added some salt and they seem to be doing better. The fish of concern(2) are recovering. One completely normal and the other getting better(female). She has to swim constantly to stay down but it looks like it getting easier for her.

Thanks
