Anyone use this stuff before? i went to petco and they had a bunch of it in their tanks. it was 24.99 for a "large" piece which wasn't that big. seems like $5 a lb for fiji is a better deal. But i hear this stuff is better than fiji. What do u guys think? i only need enough for a 10gallon tank so about 10lbs or so.

I don't even know what "cultured" means...does it like the opera? If by cultured they mean "not harvested from a reef" but created, I vote for that. I think we should employ conservation when we can. Also, if it's from Florida, it is less likely to have sat out and dried out during shipping from Fiji.

You can get this Florida cultured stuff for about 5.50 a pound I think directly from dealer.

I've heard that Florida and Haitian live rock is bad. My LFS here in Pinellas County, Fl. won't sell it. Is it different for the cultured variety?

Sounds like you can get different qualities of rock for different prices from the site you mentioned above. The place that I ordered mine from may have the same set up but the rock I got was 5.50 and I LOVE it. We just had a discussion in another thread about the risks/benefits of getting cured vs uncured. Love to hear opinions about differences between cultured and those rocks taken from nature-established reefs.

i might just go w/ cultured rock, since i called the LFS w/ fiji rock and they're currently out of stock and not sure when more is coming in. plus the culture rock is fully cured, so i won't have and spikes in ammo and nitrite in my tiny tank
