flounder!!!

Well according to petco they are "flounders" and get no more then 2". LIES!

this is fw/bw fish. they get around 8". 75 will be than 55 for this flounder. its better not to have any decor so it can burrow to the sand.

ohno123. i believe this is the same fish.

if this fish is one of the fish I know of as flounders or fluke it is growing much larger than 8 inches and 2 inches is rediculous. maybe its a different species than the ones Im familiar with. where did it come fom? Fluke seem like small fish to me when I catch them (15-20 inches), but thats comparing them next to 40 inch stripers. also, depending on where its from you are probably going to need a chiller or something

you have a saltwater flounder. the freshwater sold at petco... are soles and stay very small and prefer bw. if yours came with a crab shipment it is saltwater. there are many varieties which can stay small 8" or get to a few feet. they will die in freshwater and probably in bw also ( if not acclimated very slowly). you can try decreasing the salt levels over time but in my experience they start to get finrot. they need to be fed bloodworms or any small live worm. i trained mine onto pellets but it took a while. find out where it came from and check the markings/ side of the body the gills are on. check if you can see teeth as well. how big is it? you may need to wait until it is older before you can identify it.

At one of my LFS they sell flounders for freshwater and they say they do not get bigger than around 4 to 8" and they normally sell at 1"

Also there is a marine aqaurium near where i leave that is a tourist attraction and they have a flounder is freshwater there that is about 20 inches.

i want one in my tank but im sure it will be eaten if its 1 inch :(
