Do water conditioners (most, any?) remove or neutralize flouride?

I've been noticing that most of the house/terranium plants I've got/getting are sensitive to chlorine and flouride etc in there water, and was wondering if just adding water treatment to their water like I would for fish water would make it safe for them?

Thanks.

I don't think so. Flouride can't be absorbed by carbon so I doubt it can be neutralized easily. Bottled water just to water the plants will get expensive. You could go ahead and use the dechlorinator though, since that will neutralize the chlorine at least. Just make sure it is something simple like Prime, no slime coat stuff!

oops!
what about when I use the tank water on them and it already has the slime coat stuff in it?

do you know if the regular water filter (like on the faucet) gets rid of it?

The water change water with the slime coat stuff is ok, that's already been processed by your aquarium. I just wouldn't use it to directly neutralize water for your plants, because for one thing it tends to leave a residue. In my opinion, the best dechlorinator is Prime, and the 50 mL bottle is the easiest to use of all since it comes with a dropper cap!

No, it doesn't for sure if it is using carbon. The only way to remove fluoride is using a reverse osmosis system. Fluoride is a very small particle, so it does not have enough contact time with any kind of media to make it effective to filter it through any conventional means. Believe me, if it were easy to do, it would be done :) Many people are concerned about fluoride in drinking water, and it would be a huge moneymaker if someone could make a fluoride filter system that was convenient and economical like those Brita or PuR filters. IMO Flouride in the drinking water has been a blessing, it's a shame that the generation that is benefiting from it tends to irreversibly damage their teeth from daily intake of Mountain Dew and other such rubbish...

Ok thanks. :)

I for one only drink soda a few times a year. :D lol

Sometimes they do put to much fluoride in the water though. A little is good (I think..) but too much can also cause some health issues.

Now I just need to invent the flouride easy filter and be set for life ... ;)
LOL!
