Hi, has anyone used Fluorish Tabs made by Seachem? I am having trouble finding any info about them or user reviews. I have been using them and I am wondering if blackening of the substrate could be caused by these tabs.

Any experience, advice, opinions, etc. would be much appreciated! :)

Although I am sure that the blackening of substrate is from the break down of the tab, I can't compare because I use Eco complete which is a black substrate. If it's just locally centered around the tab area, then it must be from the tab. If it's throughout the substrate then it's just common detrius that froms and could be removed using a gravel vac. Here are some other reviews for these tabs.

thanks! I just stirred around and couldn't locate any more blackened areas. I used my syphon hose thing and removed just the typical aquarium "stuff" off the substrate.

I removed 2 tabs that had black around them in the 10 gallon. The 10 gallon substrate is pretty shallow so I wondered if maybe the tabs weren't good there because maybe they got too much circulation because they weren't down deep. I don't really know

Well, now I guess I'll just keep checking for blackened areas!

Thanks!!

Oh, I had actually looked for something like Eco complete or fluorite before I planted, but I couldn't find any and it was going to cost more to ship a bag of it than the bag itself costed.
