Flourite?

But ive had a tank setup for almost a year that has a pea gravel flourite mix and the flourite did not end up on the bottom. I dont think you know what your talking about rex.

Pea gravel means the stones are the size of peas. Which is larger than Flourite. People tend to use pea gravel as a catch all term. But it's not.

Anytime you mix two or more different sizes of substrates the larger pieces will always end up on top over time.

Frequent disturbances of the substrate, removing plants, vacuuming and such will actually prevent this separation.

I'm just starting my tank. I chose Flourite for my substrate, but I really like the red and black grains so I have not covered it. Is this alright? Is 17 lbs of Flourite enough for my 12 gal Aquapod? I've got a 1.75 to 2.0 inch layer in now - I will buy another bag if required.

Rex, I read your substrate guide too late to include the fine layer of peat moss - next time.

Thanks
