Hi, I have several Flower Horns, I have been having trouble with one of the females eyes. They swell like they are full of fluid and turn white does anyboy know what it is and how to treat it..

you should probably go to a hybrid site cause i doubt any one here will help cause nobody likes flowers and they probably rather ur flowers die :mad2: ..................................................................................................
:D but since i breed them and i like them id say go get some melafix or some jungle stuff.
flowerhorn are hybreeds so they could be just born with problems?!
try mela fix or som meds by "jungle"
kyle :thm:

i dont know what it is but ur best bet is melafix. oh and crank up ur temp up too 84 if its not already. I personally like to make my water brackish because if u think about it freshwater parasites cant handel salty water and the salt water parasites cant handle fresh water so i think i got the whole parasite thing on lock. oh and i think flowerhorns are one of the most beautiful fish ever. while im on the subject what are flower horns mixed with? Ive heard that they are half jack dempsy and half red devil is this true?

There are many opinions about the actual genetics of a Flowerhorn cichlid including genes from a Goldfish. The most convincing to me is the opinion that it is derived from a number of South American cichlids - Trimac, Midas, Red Devil and Synspilum.
These fish can be of great value in the far east as their patterns sometimes mirror symbols which are supposed to bring great luck to to the owner. I'm not sure if they were manufactured for this reason but i've read about some silly money changing hands for the right patterned fish.

As for your eye problems...

If the entire eye is cloudy (all the way through) it is likely to be worms or flukes. You can buy treatments for this at your LFS.
If the eye has a translucent film over it, the fish more than likely have a Protozoan infection. You can also buy treatments for this at your LFS but youm may need to quarantine the affected fish if they have tankmates.

sounds like they may have pop-eye, or it could be sum sort of fungal infection, get sum melafix and use that if it doesnt work try sum stronger meds.
