fluval 105 in new tank

im looking at upgrading my tank from a 52 litre to a 150 litre and was wondering if my fluval 105 would hack the increased water volume. fluval say it is suitable for 100 litres but will pump 408 lph. several lfs i have been to say it would cope with tthe increased load fine and still filter the water fine .whilst one said they say it struggles with 50litres (althought mine works fine at less than 50 % capacity in my curent tank)
i was just wondering what your views were and wether you think it would be ok to use the pump?

Depends upon your stocking level and if your tank is planted. You will see a difference when changing from 7.8x per hour to 2.7x per hour. In a heavily planted lightly stocked tank the 2-3x per hour would be fine. In an unplanted heavily stocked tank it won't cut it.

If you don't add any more fish when you get the new tank (yeah right!!!) and kept the bioload the same the one filter will be fine.

But since you currently have 8X filtration on your tank I'm assuming that you'll need it so I suggest that you pick up another filter. Something like the fluval 105 or greater lph.

i currently run my fluval 105 at around 30% cappacity in a medium lanted tank and currently only have 6 small fish

Partly it will depend on how often you clean the fluval. I find mine quickly starts to loose power following a cleaning. I don't get at it often enough, but I suppliment with an aquaclear HOB filter as well. I run the older model fluval, a 304.
