Really? Then again, my definition of "too noisy" is "rabbits banging empty food dishes in a transparent bid for breakfast," so in comparison none of the fish equipment is noisy to me.

Ever hear a rabbit scream? Sounds like a human baby being attacked by a circus clown. Scary!

Yeah, every HOB i've had made a ton of running water noises. Can't watch movies in a water fountain.

I have a very aggressive female, so yes. I got to hear a scream when she tried to take apart a foster bunny who got loose in her room, many years ago. I got better at keeping her away from them after that. (He was fine, just scared out of his wits. I thought I'd have the police at my door expecting a murder in progress.)

The little waterfalls are kind of soothing. I don't watch movies in the same room, though, so I see your point. And I don't think HOB can quite match the filtration capacity of canisters.

Petsmart has the Fluval line on sale at the moment. Tempting.
