fluval 405 on a 20 gal long is this to much

The fluval 405 has an adjustable flow rate, so as long as you regulate it properly there shouldn't be any problems.

lemme just go ahead and say it, there is no such thing as too much filtration.

Currently I have a 404 on my 30 gal, and for some fish the current is too strong with the stock diffuser. On this tank I'll be switching to a 204 that I have as well, rather than throttle down the 404. In the past, I've routed the discharge to a UGF plate which virtually eliminated any current while still filtering the high gpm's.

What fish are you stocking?
