Fluval C2 ongoing review

i'm just starting my research on this filter and i have found that tfp has stated that both of the pads (foam and poly) can be rinsed and reused. have you found this to be true? oh and i say both because they sell them independently.

I have found this to be true.

Is there anyway for you to measure the dimensions of the carbon filter plastic frame of the C2. I am wondering if it will fit a 100ml purigen bag. Also, have you used any other media in the C2 that has worked better than what came with it? Thanks

Hey i remember this thread!

Hows this filter running nowadays? any pics of the media and whatnot?

The filter is still running great but I am thinking about getting an extra aquaclear 20 both as a backup and because I like to over filter.

I will try to get pics and measurements tomorrow. I did replace the carbon with extra bio media and I replaced the polyfiber side of the sponge/polyfiber pad with felt (worked great until it started to clog) and I will soon put polyester batting in the felts place. I kept the sponge and am reusing it.

Also, do you think the intake is the same as the Aquaclears. I want to get a surface skimmer for the C2 and need to find one that fits. Thanks

How loud is it compared to the AC series? I have an AC70, which, with a little nudging, is very quiet (no cover because it rattles).

Generally I have found it to be quieter than the AC I own.

Need some answers

Hello everyone , New to site and wanted to ask a few questions about this filter. Looking to restart my tanks and keep the 1 tank going that I have kept alive during my recent moves. I kept all of my plants alive in a 30 gallon tank while shutting down my Oceanic 75 gal show tank and 150 gal tank. ( rear glass drilled out and bulkhead fittings installed)

I guess you would say I am old school. Never used any fluval products I used Marineland cannisters on my tanks but they are so old they are now retired.

My main question on the C3 filter are how is clean up and maintenance. Do you need to replace the C-Nodes often and is the C-Nodes used in place of Activated Carbon ?. I see the Foam filters can be washed out and replaced as necessary. but in general how is the clean up process >???. I will only be using this filter on my small tank and use fluval cannisters on my big tanks

Also looking for suggestions on my big tanks for new filters. Ease of maintenance clean up, disconnection and re-connection etc.......

All help appreciated

Thanks in advance :)

I think Hagen made an impressive design to compete the the bio wheel that marineland use. I am considering purchasing 3 C4 for my stock.
