I'm thinking of getting a Fluval Spec for a betta.
Anyone else have this tank? I came across these two reviews on amazon. Should I be concerned, or do you think something else was injuring the fishes? Also, how loud is the filter? I want it for my night-table and don't want it keeping me awake.

"I purchased this tank for my daughters birthday as it was recommended for Guppies. After losing 6 guppies (2 were housed at a time from our large family tank) to what I thought was fighting and tail chewing I emptied the tank and found their tails in the filter! The filter is far too powerful and had literally tore the poor things tails off! I went back to supplier who advised gauze over the intake followed by a stone in front of that and to restrict the outflow pipe to which we did. My daughter then purchased 2 pea puffers, again on their advice and today she woke to find one dead stuck to the filter hole! Poor lil thing must have died trying to get away! I'm so angry right now I'm going back to the supplier to tell them they are a death trap! Please do not put ANY fish in this tank!!!"
"The Betta cannot tollerate the flow of this system. My poor thing was stuck on the intake vents everytime the system is plugged in. I like the extra room and beauty. I moved my Betta up into this tank because of the filter and the Betta with all the bubbles at the top, thought the filter was a good idea. I have read the Betta need slow moving flow systems. The box wasn't marked for any specific fish type, so I'm just cautioning that this is what's going to happen if you put a Betta in this tank. I like the idea the first poster said to run the filter one hour a day. I'm going to try that. Otherwise, great looking solid tank."
