Fluval Stratum

I used it in one of my shrimp tanks and felt it was so so. It stirred up very easily and always took a while to settle which irritated me. I really liked the look of it though, and I noticed good plant growth.

Does it actually do anything directly for the shrimp? Like, do the babies really hide in it?

I mean, I'm sure good plant growth helps indirectly, but I tend to kill plants.

What does it do for the water parameters? How does it allow the baby shrimp to hide thats the one part I do not understand.

I've used it in a few tanks. It buffers the pH down a bit. I've also noticed good plant growth with it. I've also noticed that the shrimp really dig "cleaning" the granules.
The granules are a little larger, so it doesn't compact down, and gives the babies a place to duck out as stated above. I've used both the shrimp stratum and the plant stratum.. I can't really tell the difference between the two.
