Food ?

Tropical and goldfish food have diferent formula. For what I know, goldfish food has more fat and is often formulated with color enhancers.

Giving it to your tropical will not harm them, but get a tropical flake and feed alternating. This way you'll not throw away that food and your tropicals will enjoy it.

For what I understand you recently lost your goldfish, right? I so, I'm sorry for your loss. However, if it happened lot of time ago, check any expire date and the canister. Old food is not as nutritional as a "fresher" food.

BTW, what kind of fish/tank size you have?

I have a 10g and the goldfish flakes I have dont have any added dyes in it. I didnt loose my goldfish, I took them back to the store after I found out how much amnonia they produce and it killed off the otto sucker I had. So I now have 2 mickey mouse platys, 2 marble mollys, 3 serpae tetras, and 3 bumblebee gobys.

Glad to hear that you didn't loose the fish. You acted vwçery responsible by returning the goldfish. One single Gf must be kept in a minumum 20 gall.

Well, good luck with your new fish.

Warning about BB Gobies

I just want to point out (as was pointed out to me on this site earlier this year), Bumblebee Gobies are sold mistakenly as freshwater, but are actually brackish water fish.

I have a species tank set up just for them, because they need very specific water conditions and other fish bully and compete for their food. In addition, they are VERY picky eaters and will not take flake food normally.

Please check out the brackish discussion forum for more information on these cute little guys...
