I am trying to switch my fishes diet daily because I heard this was good for color enhancement. It is this true? Right now I am feeding them tropical fish flakes, algae wafers, live brine shrimp, and frozen blood worms. One day they get one thing and the next day they get another. I am running low on my fish flakes and I would like to get some more and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good brand? Also, what is the difference between flakes and pellets? I also planned on buying some seaweed sheets for my ottos. Has anyone ever heard of them eating this?

try tetra crisps, my fish eat them like no tomorrow. That is already a pretty varied diet, and your fish should do fine. also some veggies every so often may be a good idea. my gouramis love that

You could also go with some freeze-dried cyclop-eeze. I've had swordtails, tetras, giant danios, fathead minnows, goldfish, shrimp...etc go crazy for the stuff.

If you buy seaweed sheets for the otos, make sure they're from the LFS so you know there are no additives/preservatives that are unsafe for fish. Veggies are great too - I buy frozen zuchinni for my plecs, all my fish go nutso for it. Just thaw a piece and toss it in.
I do the same thing you do, feed different things every day. My fish seem to enjoy the variety. I like to make sure they get some veggies or other foods rich in fibre (like daphnia) daily, as I have read that too many meaty foods can cause constipation in some fish.
There's no particular brand of food that's better than others, AFAIK, but you might want to ask store employees if they recommend one over another (and why). I found my fish weren't thrilled with Nutrafin flakes, but then they're not really passionate about flakes in general. Big Al's brand flakes, bloodworms, brine shrimp etc. seem fine, they gobble everything up without complaint :)

When shopping for fish food, look at the ingredients, and try to get one that doesn't have fishmeal as the first ingredient. Fishmeal is usually a filler used to bind eveything together and doesn't really do anything for the fish. Omega One has no fishmeal in their food at all, and I have heard great things about the New Life Spectrum foods. These 2 brands are not always available at your local stores, so just look at the label, and send me a pm if you want to order the Omega One online. I get mine in Tennessee, and will be glad to share that link with you. ;)
