For all you Eco-Complete owners

Do you guys has some gravel on top of the Eco-Complete? Or do you just have Eco-Complete alone. I want to add some Blue gravel on top of my Eco Complete to make a stream-like scene.

You can layer plain gravel over the top of Eco, Fluorite or other nutrient rich substrate without causing root plants grief.

That will be fine. Are you talking a strip or covering the whole thing? The substrates will start to mix as you replant things and do gravel vacs.

I have mine by itself... love the look of it. you might consider cutting the blue gravel into the ecocomplete, so it doesn't mix as much in the center of the stream... use a puty knife or trowel to create more distinct areas. the edges will bleed, but that will look better than a mix of black and blue. you can also use strips of flexible plastic to push back the eco, fill the gap with blue, and then remove the plastic once it has settled.
