for those considering a cannister filter...

the chinese government have no respect for patents or copyrights- they just allow their company's to pirate other designs and then mass produc them using other materials.

You can't copyright an aquarium filter. :headshake2:

I looked in the USPTO database and found 12 Eheim patents, but none of them appear to be applicable to the Pro II.

It thus appears the design is in the public domain, and avaible for copying by others.

how's the filter doing? i ordered one and was wondering if it actually puts out 350gph or is it actually half that? i heard jebo is actually half of what they say they're gph is.

I just bought 2 more. the flow is fine.. almost too much but I have 1 media tray empty.
I would say this filter is a bit much for a 29 more suited to a 40+.

I have this in a 29 and the spray bar throws enough water to push plants down.

today i will be turning off one hob(there are 2 on it.)

I also am going to try their 65 watt power compact light.

Thank you! I am very interested in this thread and all cheap alternatives for this hobby. I picked up one of the similar Jebo CSF4s a year ago and still have no complaints. For $65 for big media baskets full of media, no leaks and still running very quiet. The only sketchy part is the conections to the canister seem flimsy but just take care when cleaning it. The only prob I have was when I hooked up an in-line heater and uv sterilizer and slid the hose back onto the quick disconnect the hose would not seal right. Im asuming that over time the hose had streatched and just needed a new one. A new hose fixed the prob and still no complaints but it has only ben a year. The only other thing is the flow rate but when you compair them to the ehims the ehime flow rate for the same recomended sized tank is about half of the jebo flow rate recomended for the same size tank so I belive the rates are similar.

You said 40+... do you think they'd do a 72?

I would use 2 on a 72.

the 2 filters arrived yesterday. and both are up and running. I used 1 on another 29 and did not use the spray bar. the flow is good and I used the joint for the spray bar to direct flow. this seems to have reduced the impact of the spray bar(tho the spray bar does create good flow and is a good idea to reduce / eliminate dead spots.
the third filter is being used on my marine tank as a way to use carbon.(it will only be run ocassionally)

yes around 2 weeks.

time will ultimately tell.
but then again....I don't suspect any real issues(design is relatively simple) and for $49 I have really cool water tight compartment that is currently working as a filter;)

I have had brand name power heads fail in less time.;)

as a matter of fact my python has failed more times than I would like to say..:swear:
while they do have warranty.. to send the parts back would cost as much if not more than just buying the replacement.
which I have since changed to fittings used to repair garden hoses ;)
