for those of you want to start planted tanks...

i had to wash it a lot. the petsmart store may not have it in stock. none of the ones out here ive been to (in california) have carried it.

best way ive found to wash the stuff is to put it in a wire mesh collander (strainer) and put a nozzle on the hose to create a fairly high powered stream. i rinsed small batches twice till the water ran clear (took a couple of hours for 60lbs/4 bags). but it didnt cloud up too bad after i added it to my tank

i found petsmart have it online, i have one near me, im go pick it up.
hey, how many time did you wash it before adding it into tank?

wash the HELL out of it! it's still gonna be cloudy but you don't want to see what happens when you don't wash it well enough... or do you???
lol!

I'm not sure what the laws are on shipping accross the border. lol, wouldn't want to become an international criminal or something

Canada? Is that in California somewhere?

Ditto on everything being said about plants from fellow members. No one has disappointed me yet!

i do and i dont...it looks neat, but watching my congos have to work to swim around is making me feel guilty. plus, some of the stuff is so tall its blocking light from other plants. it needs a trim

Dear inkyjenn on chesterthehero's computer,

You can always send those trimmings to me :).
Do you have a list of plants that are in that gorgoeus setup?

Great work!

Your plants are gorgeous.

no real stock list. off the top of my head i know i have an INSANE amount of ludwigia repens, and that i also have hygrophila corymbosa v. siamensis, hygrophila polysperma, hygrophila salicifolia, hygrophyla polysperma "rosanervig", another form of ludwigia (arcuatus maybe), two amazon swords, two red rubin swords, various patches of java moss, a java fern, cryptocoryne wendtii green, cryptocoryne wendtii red, anubias barteri barteri, dwarf hair grass, rotala rotundifolia, ludwigia inclinata, ludwigia inclinata var. verticillata. there are other plants in there that i am having a harder time identifying.

there also used to be (in the photo, but not in the tank as of yesterday) a ton of water wisteria (hygrophilis diformis). but that is being moved to other tanks to propogate unchecked. it just takes up too much room in my tank right now. i may move some back once everything gets settled. on the prowl for a larger tank to accomodate the plants. at some point here, i will have to sell some of this stuff ;)
