It did happen after pearl harbor. Everytime there is any major event, there are conspiracy theories to go along with it.

In the case of pearl harbor, there are the theories that we knew of it, that we didnt prevent it, so that we would have public support to go to war. Just like this conspiracy, there is extremely little evidence to support it.
 
I think that a scientific debate over the cause is fine. I don't think that the number of innocent people who died is cause to discard finding that don't support the status quo.

However, I find it laughable that they are presented by an economist. Who am I going to believe, an economist who is no longer with the government (why? sour grapes?) or a professor of Structural Engineering (from MIT nonetheless)? I think that this is just one more conspiracy theory cooked up to stir the pot.
 
I dislike this administration as well. But I believe that with as much jet fuel these planes held (they were fueled for cross country flights) they indeed could have melted the steel. Remember too, that those buildings stood for a few hours before the collapse. That day still leaves such an awe on mine and many others' psyche. However, if this administration is guilty of somehow being involved, then it just furthers my own belief that more often than not the human being is the worst creature that walks the Earth. But the one ray of hope I will always remember is all the police, firefighters, and everyday people that made such great efforts to help eachother regardless of any differences. I wish the world could be like that more often. It's very saddening that only in times of great tragedy that we tie together. But maybe these things happen to force to remember that we are still human, and undouptably connected to eachother.
 
From what I can gather, there's a lot more solid evidence for foreknowledge in the case of Pearl Harbor than 9/11. But it seems to me that the Downing Street Memo indicates more plausible evidence of behind the scenes manipulation. IF the head of British intelligence thought the evidence was being fixed, then it seems we have a top official with expert knowledge in his own field indicating government manipulation of facts in order to start a war. Thus far it seems there hasn't been any direct refutation of the memo.
 
I am still trying to get over the assertion that if we had not rallied after Pearl Harbor, we would be under communist rule. Is that what you really meant? The Japanese were not communists.
 
Too true. FDR sat right between Chrchill and Stalin at Yalta. The Japanese were aligned with the Nazis, strangely enough. If the Soveits hadn't totally knocked out the Nazis during their idiot winter invasion, things might have gone quite differently in the world.

It was meant to be a general overall statement not just about one country taking us over.
 
I think conspiracty theories are very interesting, and some may have some truth to them. But in general, they are just another way for people to cope with/explain something they can't understand or deal with.
 
Can someone (hopefully many) please tell me this "theory" is NOT possible - and why Not.

How can small fires bring down a steel building. This has never happened - until...

they were not small fires- it was burning jet fuel. It burns at a temperature beyond what the steel was rated to withstand. planes weren't supposed to be able to penetrate the outer structure of the two towers either, but they did. I heartily dislike the current administration, but this implication goes too far.
