Found a fry! What to do?

Teeeennnnnyyyy tiiiiiiny wwwitttle pooowder like peices..lol

reminds me of old times, i think i am gonna go get some femail guppies.

Thanks for all the pointers!

We bought a breeder net box from Petco. It looks a bit ridculous given the size of tank, but we've successfully transferred the fry to to its "crib" as described by my 3 yr old.

One more question. How often should we be offering flake powder to the fry?

I've read anywhere from 4-8 times a day. I think I tend to feed mine maybe 4-5 times a day or when I remember. I don't think it's too critical but I would try to do at least 4. They don't need much at a time. I've got 6 molly fry in my breeder net currently and I think I've fed them about 3 times today so far.

I raise central american cichlids and feed the little fry one of two things:
Hikari First Bites (powder you mix with water - a little goes a LONG way), or
Frozen Baby Brine Shrimp

I turn off the filter, squirt it in with an eye dropper and watch them gobble. Then when it's all gone or settled into the java moss where they like to eat and hide, I turn on the filter again.

When you're feeding lots of babies and lots of times during the day, VERY frequent water changes are needed. I try to do my fry tank as a 40-50% wc every 3 days. The little rascals can really crap out a tank fast and get the params out of whack with all the left over food.

Enjoy raising babies, it's fun!

I read somewhere fry empty their stomachs every 20 minutes....

4 times a day?

I can do that on the weekend, but there has to be something I can do when I'm at work and no one is around.

Fry empty their stomachs frequently meaning they need to be fed quite a few times a day. 4-8 times a day is best.

If you're not around all day and don't have a way to feed them, just try to feed them before you go to work in the morning and as soon as you or someone gets home. Then try to fit in a couple more that night and before you go to bed and start all over again in the morning They won't die, they just may not grow as fast as if you can feed them at regular intervals throughout the day. During the week I tend to feed mine before I go to work, when I come home for lunch and then after work. It's worked so far for me.

Thanks KJoFan! It's encouraging to know that I could possibly make this work despite my schedule.

The fry itself seems to be doing well so far. It's been swimming around a bit more since dropping food into the net box.
