Just like the title says.. I found a very nice looking rock at school today so I scooped it up and took it home with me :D Lol

Thought it could be a great addition to my freshwater tank... maybe I can get some moss to grow on it... :perv:

Anyways, before i do anything else... Can lava rocks be put in freshwater tanks? Id obviously have to scrub the dirt off and clean it off, but i think itd look totally cool in the tank.

It has a lot of pores, and holes, and its a little rough but not too bad, maybe moss can cling to it and grow all over it...

Opinions? Suggestions?

As always, thanks for the help guys and Im enjoying the forum :D

I have heard of red lava rock leaching iron into the water column. If you get an algea bloom in a few months try removing the rock. (If it is red that is.)
