Found a Sea Apple

looks like an anemone to me, or some sort of a Christmas Tree. Leave it in their, dont flush it cause you dont know what it is!!!!!

I'll try for some better pics, but for now I'm still stumped. I had aptasia, and this isn't the same thing. It does seem dull for a sea apple, and I don't think that it is a sea cucumber. Maybe it is some sort of anemone, but I can't ID it.

I have it out of my tank now, but it must have been in there for over a year. I haven't added anything but fish/ inverts to this tank since I started it last January.

If it has not reproduced by now, i would doubt that it tis a pest anemone.

Side note, do not flush it!

question,,,,,,,,,,,,how do items like this pop up in a tank? if you don't place them in there and you don't have anything else similar to it,,,,then how do they just show up? im a rookie here and im trying to find out all the information that i can before i jump into this hobby!! :)

the way this sounds,it sounds like its similar to a computer virus!!! they just show up!!!!

elaborate on this?

Germanman, I don't think that it is the same thing as the picture that you showed. I had regular aiptasia in this tank before, and a peppermint shrimp chowed it all down. This didn't have a translucent body, but was more of a solid stump with a mouth that could open and let out the tentacles.

None the less, it is no longer. I disposed of it today, unsure of what it was. Since it had been in the tank for so long I doubt it was harmful, but after removing it I was scared that it might not survive if I put it back and didn't want some crazy tank killing incident.

Reds, stuff like this comes on Live Rock and as I demonstrated, it can be in your tank for a long time without you knowing. For me that is what is so cool about saltwater. You have a very diverse ecosystem in your tank.

I cant believe you got rid of it, thats just wrong. well done Germanman for putting the idea across of getting rid it of and posting photos that didnt even look like it. Think before you post!!!
