found out what "rubber pleco" actually is.

Dumb fish stores that don't know anything!!
I discovered that the "rubber pleco" my friend gave me is not a rubber pleco. pretty sure it's a Thomasi Pleco. Any info about them?

mine's only a couple inches-and it looks just like the thomasi at foster and smith.

My rubber was from Pet$mart and looks like Pinkertd's photo more. I think if you get it from a chain store- whatever is caught that looks remotely similar will be sold and classified into one of the names they actually sell.

I bet if you go back to the same store you'll see a different species sold as a Rubber later in the year. I swear the two petsmarts in my town sell two different species under the same name.

These are just common names. Multiple species can have the same common name, or one species can have multiple common names.

Sunshinessmile, those look to be thomosoni which are usually sold as that. C. milesi is as well, sometimes as spotted rubber lip...
