FOWLR= special lighting?

it came with a single 40 watt fluorescent. think it will be bright enough? or just get the upgrade

Get a double striplight and use it with your current single. Get a 50/50 bulb, a super-daylight, and use one of the lights that came with the striplight (probably a GE freshwater/saltwater bulb) and your lighting should be right on time. If three lights won't fit, then just get one more single or get the double and sell or store the single.
