I put several foxtail into my tank on saturday and nearly every one of them shed thier leaves. Will they grow back or should I just pull them out and trash them? It made a huge mess, I had to get most of them out with a net.
Any advice appreciated.

Ive had my toubles with Foxtail but WOW! If it shed leaves so quickly, it sounds like it went into shock for some reason. I wouldnt trash it just yet. I would do a good water change (50%) to make sure your water quality is ok. I have noticed mine perk up after a water change. if they dont start growing leaves soon, then trash them. I think some are propogated emersed, if Im not mistaken, maybe that is what yours were, and had culture shock. Keep the CO2 high for those buggers!

Wow,

I'm amazed to hear of someone having problems with foxtail, that's the stuff I throw any and everywhere to eat up excess nutrients in tanks, I have trouble killing it.

But that's just me.

I have had foxtail survive and actually grow in a tank that had nothing other than the flourescent lighting in the room over it. It also survives in an mbuna tank I have.

I think there is more than one kind. I have some of the kind that is more difficult evidently. It came in the mail mostly dead last summer. I salvalged a small bit and it is finally starting to flourish in my tank.

I've found the stuff to be generally......a mess. It sheds and gets all over everything. And this is with good light and CO2!!!
