Frag Tank

Well, today I found a coral I couldn't pass up. It's a Galaxea Coral and about 6" in diameter for only $25.00. I think it looks really cool.

Just keep its beautiful sweeper tentacles away from everything else. Other than that, it's a killer deal for a nice coral.

Thanks Amph. It was there and I saw it and had to have it. I could make my money back with just one frag but it's too pretty to cut up right now. It sure took up the room in my frag tank. It's time to get the big tank up and running.

Those tentacles reach out there about 4 inches. I was surprised how close he had it to his other corals.

Absolutly stunning coral....these have always reminded me of the fibre optic christmas trees where the optics are right at the end of the branch...A stunning example Greg....Good luck with it..

Thanks Niko. I just couldn't pass it up for the price and size. I found a few web sites with them for sale and a 1" square was around $30.00. You're right, they do look like fiber optics.

Greg, with all these beautiful corals, your tank must look amazing. Are you going to post a picture of the tank? Would like to see one. That Galaxia is really nice. David

Again though, just be very careful with that coral. IMO the 2 worst corals as far as aggressiveness are the #1 - Galaxia and #2 Hydnophora. They are both great looking corals IMO, they just require a lot of room around them so they don't kill anything else. From the length you see the tentacles in the picture, I would give it another 3" extra room beyond the reach of them.

LOL, Some of my corals are just frags right now and only about 1/4" to 1" square. Most are very slow growing so they'll be small for a while.

Here's a level tank shot, taken last night.

When those stinging tentacle are fully extended, they reach at 3" and maybe 4" long, So I will have him in a special spot so he can grown and then be fragged out. He'll give one rock face a lot of movement.
