I've been looking around and seeing a lot of variation and literally astronomical prices for frags and even more insane are the per polyp prices. What's the norm?

Granted, I'm just talking about zoas/palys, but I'm sure the craziness is across the board into sps and lps as well.

How many polyps are on a good frag?

What determines whether you pay for a frag or per polyp?

What do you personally look for when you choose a frag?

It depends. The more I want it and the more uncommon it is the more I'll pay for it. For frags though, I swear by reef clubs.

Here are just a few of the deals from mine this weekend:

xenia elongata, mounted $5
mushrooms, red $1 ea.
zoas, green with blue centers and red skirts $1 polyp
zoas, Ox's (highly sought after locally) pink with green centers and red skirts $50 colony
ricordia yuma, green on plug $15
candy cane, neon green 2 heads $25
blastos, vivid red with green centers 2" $30
unknown lps, bright red and teal 2" $25
chalice, psychadelic $35
Samonesis, pink 6" colony $25
frogspawn, $5 head
hammer, $5 head
prostrata, purple 3" $25
Sinularia, hairy light blue generous size $10
milli, green 1.5" $10
leathers, huge frags $10
ricordia, orange 2" $15
daisy star polyps, green 2x4 mat $10
zoas, green with red skirts 15-30 polyps $15
zoas, gorilla nipples 8-10 polyps $15
yellow polyps, with huge rock $40
monti cap, green with purple rim $15
tort, blue $15
xenia pom pom $10 stalk
Microp $15
acro, light blue with purple polyps $25
acro, purple with teal polyps $15
acro, orange with orange-red polyps $15
monti cap, orange $10
...and that is just 1/2 of the list and doesn't include dry good buys

I have reserved the following so far:
zoas, red with blue centers and green skirts $10

If this isn't a testament to why so many of us swear by reef clubs I don't know what is.

All my answers are pertaining to zoas.

A good frag size ranges from 7 to 15 polyps for me. Price depends on how readily available the polyps locally and how healthy they appear. For example. Radioactive Dragon Eyes are extremely easy to get here. Every store carries them. I wouldn't pay more than 25cents per polyp. I have actually gotten sick of mine xD

Now for polyps that I like. I am usually willing to pay about $1-$3 per polyp for them. I love zoas with unique colors and markings. For example, the ones in my avatar. Sometimes I do like solid color zoas. But they have to have an eye catching color. Like the Bam Bam Oranges.
