Freakin' hair algae for me too!

To help fight the hair algae itself, take however much Excel you are dosing(1ml, 3ml, whatever) and mix it with about 4x as much tank water. Suck this mix up with a syringe(new turkey basters work great for me, it helps to ensure that I dilute the excel with enough water), turn the filters off, and squirt the mixture onto the hair algae. Leave the filters off for about an hour, then turn em back on. If you have low current where the hair algae is, just leave the filters on.

I tried swabbing the algae with pure Excel (with a Q-tip) but it didn't take. I'll try the turkey baster idea, but it might be tough with only a 1ml Excel dose. An eye-dropper might work better, but I don't have one of those.
