Fresh Angelfish

Not stuck on it... just trying to educate myself. If I listened to everyone I'd be doing a lot of contradictory things, that's all :o

that is fine, cause you will get alot of different information on this. But they are correct, Goldfish and Angel fish do not mix. You have a fish that requires cool water to live and the other more acidic and warmer waters. Both fish need larger tanks to live, and do well. Gold fish get larger than a angel in the long run. But I do not keep Angels in anything less than a 55 gallon tank. They love lots of room to move around and plenty of plants to hide in to stalk prey. The gold fish on the other hand will eat all the plants.

So, I have a couple questions myself then. Before finding this site I had two angelfish and three goldfish, the buble headed kind. Well, I had them together forever, they did fine, we had attempts at babies ever week it seemed, but the angels for some reason or another where putting them on the filter and they got sucked up all the time. Anyway, The gold fish ate tropical food and the temp was in between what both require, from what you have said. I was just wondering, why this worked for me? Of course now that I have found this site I would never put them in a 30 gallon tank, like I had them, but I cant change the past. Im just not sure why, if they cant possible be kept together, why mine were fine. Im not trying to contradict your posts or advice. Just to educate myself as well. Thanks.

Pet, how long did they live?

My guess would be they did not out live their potential life span...

I dont remember exactly, it was around a few years. How long is their life span if properly taken care of? I know it sounds bad when I typed it, the person at the fish store told me that goldfish live around three years, so when I saw what(why cant I remember who posted that) someone posted about them living for 10, I had to find out. But now that I think about it, i feel terrible. Why cant the lfs's tell us the truth?

Angels can live 8-10 years and longer.

As for goldfish, it depends on the type.

Now your cohorts at AC have passed their knowledge onto you

Spread the word, save the fishes!
