Fresh water invert books?

The freshwater ones are understudied compared to saltwater counterparts. For reliable information, I stick to online sites where information are updated almost more accurately than the outdated information of books.

I am lucky I just remembered a review thread about this book in applesnail.net where I am also a regular poster or you would never have seen the actual reviews on that one.lol

Sadness. I've seen such a huge selection of books and articles on marine inverts while working at pet stores and was hoping there were at least a few on fresh water ones.
Looks like it will be internet researching for me.
I read the reviews and I think I will wait for purchase to see if an updated edition is ever printed. Well, I am glad that you are a poster there for sure!

I've checked out PetSmart (it's where I used to work) and I don't remember anything on freshwater snails or even shrimp. Maybe I will make a check tomorrow (have to return a lightbulb that CAME BURNT OUT).

I can pretty much guarantee that you won't find any books dedicated to freshwater invertebrates or general, or to shrimp or crayfish in general; apart from the mentioned apple snail book, there's not much hobbyist-oriented print literature out there on gastropods either.

A lot of the invert-specific print material available to aquarists is indeed in German: see here for some examples. I've also seen some well-illustrated freshwater field guides with a strong focus on freshwater shrimp coming out of Taiwan and Japan, but -- though the life history and habitat info would likely be of interest to aquarium-keepers too -- these are of course even less accessible to English speakers.

To put it another way, the internet is your best bet.

I have also been looking for books in the area. Perhaos a few of us need to get together and write one : /

A majority of the hobbyists would still scan the internet anyway even after reading books. I have over 15 books myself and I still scan the internet after reading after I kept seeing very inadequate information particularly towards nitrogen cycle, water parameters, etc.

For updated information, stick to magazine subscriptions instead of full books.
