Yeah I forgot to come back to this post, some1 told me to REALLY shake up the nitrate #2 reagent. I mean I was shaking it before- but not enough. Took 10min of shaking and banging the bottle on the table. But it does work now.
Interesting...I've never had to do THAT intensive of a shake to get decent readings. Did you make sure it hasn't expired?
It goes by manufacturing date not when you opened it, I've seen some really old tests sitting in some stores before.
Should be above the label on each bottle the lot number. example 84B0111 means it was made 1/11. They're generally good for 2-3 years
I've never had issues. The instructions say to vigorously shake bottle #2 for 30 seconds. I do this every time and never have issues. If you don't shake it well you will get 0 nitrates every time.
