I am surfing around eBay, as i always do and see these clams that are supposedly good as Detris cleaners. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I do not want to risk contaminating the tank and do not know if they are prone to carrying anything that they could trasmit.

Also i have a rocky substate and do not know if it would suit their burrowing nature.

I've heard they can be helpful, though I don't have any personal experience with them. I would think that you should have a sandy substrate for them, since that is what they usually prefer. About contamination, if the sellers are not being specific of the system they are coming from I wouldn't risk it. I think the best thing to do whenever buying fish or inverts is to be able to observe them foryourself. If you can't do that, then there is risk involved. I'd go check out an lfs and if they didn't have any in stock then talk to someone and find out if they can order some in for you and get all the info you can. Reading online articles is also a good idea about these clams too.
