Freshwater Fish Food Flakes

I agree. I use a variety of foods, brine, bloodworms, tubiflex, and omega flake food.

sorry if i wasn't clear. i do feed variety: bloodworms, brine shrimp and occassionally pellets. what i want is to switch my main staple food which is the flakes. i will probably buy two different brands in the end anyways. thanks

if you buy any 2 brands, make them omega one and ocean nutrition.

For what its worth, i'll put in another vote For Omega one. I mix there color flakes with there normal freshwater flakes. I also use there shrimp pellets for my bottom feeders and omega one veggie rounds for my plecos and otos. All in addition to frozen blood worms and brine shrimp.

If you ever watched a show called "Dirty Jobs" on the Discovery channel, they show you how fish food is made. It's not a pretty site, lol.

just curious, when buying fish food, do you consider the expiration date? that was also the other reason i am ditching the nutrafin flakes, because the bottom says the expiration is 1/2007. how long to flakes generally last? can they still be used for a short while after "expiration".

i don't want buy to buy larger amounts of flakes only to have them half full by the time they "expire". then again if expiration doesn't really matter (or is usually a long time away) then buying larger is better for the long run.
