freshwater pipefish

i figured that. ive seen them in ponds that have no way of getting salt so im not sure whats up with that. i read that ther big in the aquarium biz but ive never seen them. are they?

Different species of freshwater pipefish pop up every now and then in the hobby, they're not really that common though. I think only a few are completely freshwater though, others only live in freshwater as adults.

there are many different types of pipes, freshwater, brackish and slatwater, IMO it is most likely that was a brackish pipe, SW ones are fairly common (at least the reef dwelling semi tropical ones are) but FW and BW ones are almost non-existant in the trade, and the ones that are traded are VERY difficult to care for and usually dont live long.

i wanted to know more, guess thats why i asked. ive got a small pond thats just laying around and i dont know what to put into it. i guess thats a question for th pond forum so......
