I am on monsterfishkeepers. And I am no longer doing the rays. Apparently my tap comes out at 7.0, but all my tanks hold at 7.8. so the 150 will be peacock african cichlids.

Cutting shrimp down to bite sized portion would be right. Getting them to try shrimps would can be a challenge, however. Like what rallysman said, make sure that they get a hump in the lower back from feeding it on food it readily takes before weaning it on shrimps.
A lot of people have had moderate success on tricking rays to eat shrimp
by "marinating" the shrimp with the food theyre accustomed to or using guts and essence of earthworms. Just mix them together, let is sit for an hour and feed it to your rays. If they are hungry enough, they will try it.
The freshwater rays are no longer on the menu. The tank will be used for Peacock cichlids. Thank you though.
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo....get rays they are so much better than africans imo. My lil pups eat alot of bloodworms and i feed them blackworms on the weekends only cuz the only place that sells them is kinda far from where i live but there healthy. Im about to start trying shrimp cuz there getting fat on the back so Ima try the shrimp thing...................get the rays as long as your ph is stable you can keep them in 7.0 ph. get some driftwood , sand and a couple plants (fake or real) and your good to go!!!reptileguy2727 said:
I like to keep fish in IDEAL conditions if possible. 7.8-8.0 is not even close to ideal for rays. Therefore i do not want to push them into 'good enough' water that is not ideal for them when there are great options for fish out there that the water will be ideal for. It's just not right to the fish to put them in water opposite that of what they have been inhabiting and evolving to for millions of years.
