Wondering if anyone out there has some and if you do could you post some pictures which would be great. Also anyone have rays in Texas im looking for info about regulations on keeping them i havent had any lucky get any off the net just that there illegal so info would be of help. Im mostly interested in Potamotrygon reticulata and Potamotrygon histrix
Residental Fish Dealers license, plus you need a larger then 180G tank for the smallest species which i think is the teacup. They are illegal in california, you cannot own them there at all
Oh, I wasn't interested in owning any myself. I'm getting my Master's with a thesis on shark biology, so I know enough to feel that *in general* elasmobranchs should not be kept by the private person (myself included). The exceptions to the "in general" are if the person is connected to education or research.
Sorry, felt I had to justify myself again
All I did was ask what RFD stood for. But thanks for the pre-emptive shut down :
NorthStar, how do you know so much when you're not even 20 years old, is that right? I didn't mean that sarcastically, I really want to know. I can't even imagine myself keeping large fish and tanks when I was that age. Sure, I wanted to, but I couldn't actually do it ($$, space, parents, fragile emotional state...)
Im willing to get a tank of that size so my next question NorthStar is how do I aquire a Residental Fish Dealers license that would be from the state right?
Any Texans out have any experience with the process of obtaining these licenses?
The only ray that can live in a 180 for life is a histrix teacup is just another name for any ray under 5" usually rectics are reffered to as teacups tho. Rectics need a tank atleast 30" wide preferablly 3'. Tho histrix are almost impossible to come by right now because of the ban on exportation of brazilian rays. A good site to check out would be www.monsterfishkeepers.com for more ray info. If you want me to post more info just let me know would be more than happy to...
O and you talk about northstar being under 20 I'm only 13 and I got a 235 gallon
