Freshwater tank issues

its actually amazing that so many fish survived so far, considering that tank was overstocked, diseased, and completely uncycled those are three major reasons fish tend to die, clearly your doing a great job saving as many as you can! I can say when i started fish keeping, i was not nearly as dedicated and informed! Im 100% sure the fish will have a great home with you!

With the death of a few fish, the amount of fish left in the tank is less, and thats actually better for keeping that water more stable, diseased is under control mostly and it seems cycling is starting too, a new tank takes a while to fully cycle, so while the worst is over for the most part, theres still plenty of problems so dont be too surprised by more deaths, but keep doing what your doing and whatever fish are left will be infinity times more happy then when you got them c:

Thank you, sorry it's taken so long to give an update but I was so busy trying to fix everything that was wrong. So there have no been no more deaths since those unfortunate few, and the remaining fish are doing nicely. The larger 100 gallon tank is nearly cycled so I've been working on getting it ready to move all the survivors so they have more space. This is the smaller 20 gallon tank they came in, though I added a few plants (hence the bag in the background). It's not a very good picture (iPads never seem to take good pictures). But the fish are all alive and now ich free so that's a bonus! image.jpg

Good to hear. I'm glad things turned around.

If you're looking for a background, nothing beats plain black construction paper. It is not shiny, so taped to the outer back glass you don't really notice the back wall, and plants and fish look very nice. Very inexpensive, one sheet will do the 20g.

That's a idea Bryon! Thanks. I was looking to put some kind of background in but couldn't decide which color would best show all the fish off nicely. Especially since the gourami's are such pretty shades. I'll definitely go with construction paper, no need to run to the store just to figure out what background to use lol. Thanks again for all the help (everyone), I'm sure without it majority of these fish would not be happily swimming today!
