what is your opinion about iether one or both? i'm interested in getting one of those to get my tank bristle worm free, but also i need the one that would not be aggressive toward other fish and the one that wouldn't eat my baby clam. also, which one is the most likely to eat bristle worms? i heard that bicolor is very aggressive. and i read hat fridmeni is more fun to have. thank you

First, why do you want to rid your tank of bristle worms? They are very beneficial to the ecosystem. Secondly, if you are trying to avoid aggressive fish I'd skip the pseudochromis in general and look at the royal gramma perhaps.

but royal gramma doesn't seem to eat bristle worms. i saw one of the bristle worms sattling in my new baby clam. i don't want anything irritating my little guy. he looks good but i worry

I'd really not worry about the bristle and the clam. I don't feel the bristle will harm a healthy clam and if anything the bristleworm will help keep the tank cleaner which the clam needs. Do you have a photo of the new clam by the way?

i have been trying to get a pic, but can't get a clear one. i'll keep trying. he is really cute and opens up as soon as the light comes on in the morning. also, he knows somehow when i walk up to him, even if i try to sneak up on him. he was aquacultured and didn't come from the sea.

I have a bicolor and it is not aggressive at all to the fish or sessile invertebrates. Mine is actually rather passive and keeps to himself allot. I have never seen it touch a bristle worm in my tank and there are quite a few.

The only real downside to this fish is that it supposedly will attack and kill ornamental shrimp as that is what it supposedly eats in the wild. I haven't tempted fate yet. If I were to do it again I would definitely go with the Royal Gamma. It is slightly prettier and doesn't have the shrimp problem.

Just my .02.

I hope you have excellent lighting and that if this clam is under 3" you are taking it out and bowl feeding it...To keep a clam you would do better to be looking for some sort of wrasse that will prey on pyramidellid snails

you are right Lorna. i had a problem with those snails and they killed all my turbo snails while back. i have cleaner wresse but i also had a battle with those snails and i beat them. i have none and i know for sure because i used to take them off my snails on the regular bases. but now my other newly set up tank having snail problem that have been killing my turbos. no wresse in that tank, but i'm thinking about getting one because i can't fight those snails alone, too many and killed half of my turbos so far. tomorrow i'll go get another cleaner wresse that eats frozen foods like mine. i have helides. the clam is like 2" i think. how often and how do i feed it by taking it out and how long do i allow him to eat? i feed him in a main tank and i have high nitrates. i thought that was plenty of food, considering that he was in a store for a while under PC lights and didn't have a drop of food, yet the color is good. the thing that bothers me though is that bristle worm is still under my clam and i don't know how to get him out. by the way, he is maxima with blue hue

thanks vorlx. i'll assume that not all bicolor are interested in bristle worms. so far fridmeni is in the lead of my future decision
